Shalom u'Vrachah!
It is quite astonishing that for a very long time I have not received any letter from you, nor from your friends of Tzeirei Agudas Chassidei Chabad in Jerusalem. Surely you all should have written in detail about how you utilized the days of the month of Tishrei—both during the Days of Awe and the joyous days. In all times people were eager to receive good news, and all the more so in our days. I hope this will be fulfilled at the earliest opportunity.
You should also encourage your aforementioned friends so that each one writes about his matters in detail—even regarding general matters—so it should not be like a pot belonging to partners (where no one takes responsibility).
In continuation to the customs during farbrengens—which are especially common during the farbrengens of Tishrei—I am copying here briefly a letter sent to leaders of Anash elsewhere: It is most necessary that the joy of Shabbos and Yom Tov be not only in shul or at farbrengen but also in each member of Anash’s home.
Therefore, arrange the farbrengen so that there will be time during the auspicious moments of Shabbos and Yom Tov to explain matters to your family in a fitting way and with appropriate words for them. Certainly there is enough time these days both for a proper farbrengen and to bring joy to wife and children as is fitting.
It is understood that no specific instructions can be given to each individual since it depends on their personal nature. But surely everyone can learn from this point how to conduct themselves regarding themselves and their household...
It is clear my intention applies to all Anash; therefore he has permission to publicize these lines among his friends.
Additionally—and obviously I do not mean at all that one should become absorbed in worldly matters or its attitudes—certainly chassidic education must and absolutely should influence these matters: lengthening prayer during farbrengen, etc. But after all this there is opportunity—and it must be utilized—for the family members also to participate fully with their agreement in these matters; with a little thought one can find suitable words with which to explain it...
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that spiritual inspiration from communal gatherings must extend into one's home life. By communicating thoughtfully with family members and involving them in joyous observance, one strengthens both personal growth and family unity.
