Greetings and blessing!
In reply to your letter from the beginning of the month of Tishrei; the reply was delayed by the preoccupations of the festivals and holidays.
You write in it about the state of your health. The instruction of our Torah, the Torah of life, on the verse "ורפא ירפא" ("and he shall surely heal" — Shemos 21:19) is known: that permission was given to the physician to heal. You must therefore carry out the instructions of a doctor who is an expert in this specialty. But together with this one must know clearly that G‑d is the One Who "heals all flesh and performs wonders," and this man and that medicine are only His messengers and means. So first of all you must improve and strengthen your health spiritually, for through this the cleaving to the L‑rd G‑d is strengthened, and then "חיים כולכם היום" ("you are all alive today" — Devarim 4:4), with a revealed vitality, in all the limbs.
You should add in diligence and perseverance in Torah study, in carrying out the mitzvos with beauty, and in the service of prayer.
It is understood that all this can be done without affecting your health; there is enough time in the day to attend to the health of the soul and to attend to the health of the body. Then your physical health will improve too. And nothing stands in the way of the will.
With blessing for proper health,
