Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter regarding Mrs. ... may she live, who lacks shalom bayit (marital harmony), and it is being attributed to her mother-in-law who often visits their home, etc., it is almost certain that this is because matters of Taharat HaMishpacha (family purity) need correction. In addition to all the other consequences that come from lack of care in this area, this issue is also included. As our Sages said (Niddah 31b): "Why did the Torah say [regarding family purity laws]? So that she will be beloved by her husband." This is aside from what concerns the children, etc., etc.
I hope you will find the words to explain all of the above to her parents. Experience has already shown that the less embarrassment there is (even though it should of course be explained pleasantly), afterwards all sides are more satisfied.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that shalom bayit issues are often rooted in spiritual matters like Taharat HaMishpacha rather than external causes. Honest and gentle communication about these mitzvot brings greater harmony and satisfaction for everyone involved.
