2844 —במקום שיש אהבה יש ברכה

Where There Is Love There Is Blessing

ב"ה, ג' מנ"א, תשי"ד ברוקלין.
The Rebbe writes that increasing love among people brings blessing, as peace is the vessel for G-d's blessings. He encourages the community to strengthen love and unity, which will transform exile into joy and repair its cause—baseless hatred.

B"H, 3 Menachem Av, 5714. Brooklyn.

Anash and the residents of Kfar Chabad in Eretz HaKodesh, may G‑d be upon them and grant them life—abundant peace and endless blessing!

Your pan (petitionary note) was received; I read it before Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, our leader and leader of Israel. Surely he arouses abundant mercy for each and every one of you in all your needs, both material and spiritual.

I have already stated many times, based on what is explained in many places in Chassidus: there must be a drawing down from the source—our intention is to draw it down below into this world specifically, for this world is His dwelling place. This is accomplished through acts of tzedakah, as explained in many sections of Iggeres HaKodesh. The vessel for this is peace—as our Torah concludes in Shas: 'The Holy One did not find a vessel that holds blessing for Israel except peace.'

It is already well known the declaration of the tzt"z: Alef-Beis—Ahavah (love), Berachah (blessing). The more one increases in Alef (Ahavah), the Holy One guarantees to increase in Beis (Berachah), and further elaboration to your honor is certainly unnecessary.

In these days—which our prophets foretold will soon be transformed to joy and gladness—the cause of our last exile will also be corrected, as our sages said (Yoma 9b): 'But regarding the Second Temple, although they were engaged in Torah and mitzvos and acts of kindness—why was it destroyed? Because there was baseless hatred among them.' This teaches that baseless hatred weighs as much as idolatry, immorality, and bloodshed combined.

When this is rectified by transforming darkness to light and bitterness to sweetness—with increased peace, increased love—and consequently increased influence both materially and spiritually—the result will follow accordingly.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that love between people brings G‑d's blessing. By increasing unity and peace within the community, we create a vessel for blessings both physical and spiritual—and help transform exile into redemption.
