Today I received word that your health is not as it should be, and by Divine Providence this information arrived today before my trip to the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal. I mentioned you there for a speedy recovery, and certainly my father-in-law, the Rebbe Reb [name], will arouse goodness for your health. I am confident that you will be able to inform me of good news—that your condition continues to improve.
According to the teaching of our master the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya (the authority in the hidden aspect of Torah) and Shulchan Aruch (the authority in the revealed aspect), as copied in Sefer HaMitzvos to tzt"z 114b and also found in his letters as referenced there: According to the order of the holy supernal attributes—first comes Chesed (kindness), then Din (judgment), then Rachamim (compassion). Therefore, after the measure of judgment is aroused comes the measure of compassion, which is greater than even the initial kindness—as is known, this is the attribute of Yaakov: an inheritance without boundaries that extends from one end to another. Thus, may your good news be in accordance with what was explained above.
