Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 8th of Tammuz, in which you briefly describe what you have experienced and mention that you are now studying in a vocational school, adding that there is pressure on you to move to a kibbutz.

Every Jew believes that the Holy One, blessed be He, is the One who nourishes and sustains everyone with kindness and mercy. He Himself wrote in His Torah: "Im Bechukosai Teileichu" (If you walk in My statutes), which our Sages explained—and Rashi also brings—that this means laboring in Torah. Then it says: "Venatati Gishmeichem Be'itam" (I will give your rains in their time), "Venatnah HaAretz Yevulah" (the land will yield its produce), etc., and all the blessings written in the portion. From this it is simply understood that if one truly desires for Hashem to provide his livelihood when needed, he must fulfill the condition of laboring in Torah—especially at your age of seventeen, when you must dedicate yourself completely to learning our holy Torah with devotion. You can be certain that Hashem will provide you at the right time with a good arrangement both materially and spiritually. On the contrary, you should also explain to your brother, who is eighteen years old, that he too should spend most of his day learning Torah. For if not now, one cannot know if he will later have the ability to understand and grasp our Torah—the Torah of life and truth—as stated in the Mishnah: "Do not say 'When I am free I will study,' for perhaps you will never be free." And anyone who studies both the revealed part of Torah and its inner dimension—which leads to awe and love of G‑d—our Sages said his assets will succeed.

Certainly these lines will suffice to inspire you to increase your diligence and perseverance in your studies, and may Hashem grant you success.
