במענה על מכתבו, בו מתאר מצבו ושואל חוות דעתי אם ילמוד בישיבת תומכי תמימים בלוד או בבית ספר למלאכה והוא כבן ארבע עשרה וחצי שנה.
הנה בכלל כדי להצליח בלימוד צריך להיות הענין דקבלת עול ומשמעת וכסיפור רז"ל שדוקא עי"ז שישראל הקדימו נעשה לנשמע זכו לקבלת התורה שמזה לומדים אנו לסדר קבלת לימוד איזה שיהי'. ולכן ילמוד בישיבת תומכי תמימים בלוד במסירה ונתינה בשקידה ובהתמדה ואז בודאי יצליח וכפסק רז"ל יגעת ומצאת הן בלימוד תורת הנגלה והן בלימוד תורת החסידות וקיום המצות בהידור ובמשך הזמן כשיראה שיכול להתגבר על יצרו בלימוד תורת ה' הרי יוכלו לחשוב גם ע"ד סידורו בבי"ס למלאכה, אבל לא קודם שיראה עצמו וגם יראה לאחרים שהמוח שליט על הלב בהנ"ל.
בטח אומר בכל יום אחר תפלת שחרית השיעור תהלים כפי שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש ומזמן לזמן פרוטה לצדקה והשי"ת יצליחו.

In response to your letter, in which you describe your situation and ask my opinion whether you should study at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Lod or at a vocational school, and you are about fourteen and a half years old.
In general, in order to be successful in study, there must be the matter of kabolas ol (acceptance of discipline) and obedience. As our Sages tell us, it was specifically because Israel said "Na'aseh v'Nishma" ("We will do and we will hear") that they merited receiving the Torah. From this we learn the proper order for accepting any kind of learning. Therefore, you should study at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim in Lod with dedication, diligence, and perseverance; then you will certainly succeed. As our Sages rule: "Yagata u'Matzasa" ("If you toil and find [success]")—this applies both to the revealed part of Torah study and to the study of Chassidus, as well as performing mitzvos with beauty.
After some time, when you see that you can overcome your inclination in studying the Torah of Hashem, then it will be possible to consider arranging for you to attend a vocational school—but not before you see for yourself and show others that your mind rules over your heart in these matters.
Certainly you recite every day after Shacharis the daily portion of Tehillim as divided according to the days of the month, and from time to time give a coin to tzedakah. May Hashem grant you success.
