בנועם נודעתי כי הגיע לגיל ששים, לאורך ימים ושנים טובות, ובודאי כמרז"ל עביד יומא טבא לרבנן, ומשתתף הנני בזה, אף כי בריחוק מקום.
ידוע המובא בראשונים (ראה מד"ש שם) כמה גרסאות במשנה סוף פ' ה' דאבות, בן ששים לזקנה, בן ששים לבינה, בן ששים לבינה, בן ששים לחכמה, ובכתבי האריז"ל (בן חמשים לזקנה) בן ששים לשיבה (מאורי אור, סוף אות ז' והוא עפ"י מש"כ בתיקוני זוהר, תקון כא', נז, עא', ובשער המצות פ' קדושים). ויהי רצון שכולהו יתנהו בי' ויהיו הענינים בהידור, ועפ"י המבואר בלקו"ת לרבנו הזקן, שיר השירים, דף יא' סע"א ושם.
והשי"ת יזכהו ויצליחהו להשתמש בכשרונותיו, הן של עצמו הן של מורשת אבות, להגדיל תורה ולהאדירה, בגדול התלמוד וגדול המעשה, ברוח ישראל סבא, ועל פי מאור תורת החסידות.

It is with pleasure that I learned you have reached the age of sixty—may you be granted long and good years—and surely as our Sages say you are making a festive day for the scholars. I join in this celebration even from afar.
It is known that in the early commentators (see Midrash Shmuel there) there are several versions in the Mishnah at the end of chapter five of Pirkei Avot: "Ben shishim leziknah" (sixty years old is for old age), "ben shishim levinah" (sixty for understanding), "ben shishim lechokhmah" (sixty for wisdom). In the writings of the Arizal (fifty for old age), sixty is for "seivah" (hoary age) (Me'orei Or at the end of section 7 based on what is written in Tikunei Zohar Tikkun 21 p. 57a and Shaar HaMitzvot Parshat Kedoshim).
May it be G‑d's will that all these qualities be bestowed upon you and that these matters be fulfilled in an enhanced manner—as explained in Likkutei Torah by our master the Alter Rebbe on Shir HaShirim p. 11a and there.
May Hashem grant you success to use your talents—both your own and those inherited from your ancestors—to increase Torah and glorify it through both study and action, in the spirit of Israel Saba and according to the light of Chassidus.
