מכתביו - עם המוסג"ב - בעתם קבלתי ואתו רב הסליחה על אשר התעכב המענה שלי עד עתה שהוא מרוב הטרדות ההולכות וגדלות, ורובם כרוכות גם בעגמ"נ ונוסף על כ"ז גם ההתעסקות בהו"ל של התניא בפעם הראשונה בארצוה"ב שלא שיערתי מראש שיודרש כ"כ זמן ממני, ולא עוד אלא כיון שלא טפלתי בהגהה היותר האחרונה הרי נשארו כמה טעויות למרות השתדלותי להגיה עד כמה שאפשר. ונתקיים מרז"ל (פסחים קיב, א) - כפירש"י דטריד בגירסי' (ועי"ז) ולא כו'[3] [אבל לא ח"ו כפי' הרשב"ם[4]].
ב) בטח קבל בעתו את השדי חמד כרך עשירי וכן הדרך מצותיך עם הוספות שהו"ל כאן, וכן נשלח לו בחבילה בפ"ע מכאן התניא הנ"ל וכן התהלים עם פירוש הצ"צ, ובטח יאשר קבלת כל הנ"ל, ות"ח מראש.
ג) ימים אלו נתקבל ספרו מועדים בהלכה בהוצאה חדשה ות"ח והשי"ת יזכהו להגדיל תורה ולהאדירה ע"י ספריו ומאמריו לאורך ימים ושנים טובות, טובות בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד...
ז) מוסג"פ מה שהו"ל בקשר עם חג הגאולה י"ט כסלו העבר, שבטח יעניין את כהדר"ג שי'.
ח) בהזדמנות זו הנה אם ימצא זמן פנוי ויכתוב לי בפרטיות אודות התועדות די"ט כסלו בהכפר ותוכן הנאומים, הרי א"ת[5] אהי' לכת"ר שי'.

I received your letters—with the enclosed material—on time, and I ask much forgiveness for my delayed reply until now. This is due to the ever-increasing responsibilities, most of which also involve aggravation of spirit. In addition to all this is my involvement in the first-time publication of Tanya in the United States—a process I did not anticipate would require so much of my time. Furthermore, since I did not handle the final proofreading myself, several errors remain despite my efforts to correct as much as possible. This fulfills what our Sages said (Pesachim 112a)—as Rashi explains: one who is preoccupied with study (and therefore...), but not G‑d forbid as explained by Rashbam.
b) Surely you received on time the tenth volume of Shedei Chemed as well as Derech Mitzvosecha with additions published here. Also sent to you in a separate package from here were the aforementioned Tanya and Tehillim with commentary by tzt"z. Please confirm receipt of all these; thank you in advance.
c) In these days I received your book "Moadim BaHalacha" in its new edition—thank you! May Hashem grant you merit to increase Torah and glorify it through your books and essays for many good years—good both materially and spiritually together...
z) Enclosed is what was published in connection with the festival of redemption Yud Tes Kislev last year; surely this will interest your honor.
ch) On this occasion, if you find free time and write me privately about the Yud Tes Kislev gathering in the village and the content of the speeches, I will be most grateful to your honor.
