נבהלתי לקבלת מכתבו מאחרי חג הסוכות אשר עזב את משמרתו משמרת הקדש בישיבת... מיסודם של כ"ק אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע. ואף שכותב הטעמים שחילוק הוא בפרנסה בגשמיות, ומכנה את המצב בתור הכרח, הנה אחכ"ז לפלא עליו, כי האוחז באילנא דחיי שנטעו כ"ק נשיאנו הק' ובפרט באה"ק, ובעיה"ק ת"ו הנה גם אם שכירות בגשמיות מפסידים איזה לירות, במה נחשב הוא.
ומ"ש במכתבו אשר אחד מאנ"ש שאני נותן בו הרבה אמון, אמר לו, איר טוט זייער גלייך, הנה כיון שאינו כותב הטעם וגם לא מי הוא זה האומר, איני יודע מה לענות בזה.
והשי"ת ינחנו בדרך האמת וטוב לפניו בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.
מה שהביא מירושלמי ברכות פ"ב ה"ח, הנה השאלה שם באשת האב, אשר אמכם קרי' לה (כתובות קג, א). ומש"כ לעם אחר (ברכות נו, א) - י"ל.

I was shocked to receive your letter after Sukkos stating that you left your sacred post at the yeshiva... founded by our holy Rebbeim, of blessed memory. Even though you write that the reason is material livelihood and call it a necessity, I am still surprised at you. One who holds onto the Tree of Life planted by our holy Nesi'im—especially in Eretz HaKodesh, and particularly in the holy city—should not be concerned if he loses some liras materially; what is that worth?
You wrote that one of Anash, in whom you have much trust, told you "You are doing very well." Since you did not write the reason or who this person is, I do not know how to respond to this.
May Hashem guide you on the path of truth and goodness before Him, both materially and spiritually.
Regarding what you brought from Yerushalmi Berachos chapter 2 halachah 8: The question there is about a father's wife whom they call 'your mother' (see Kesubos 103a). As for what you wrote about another nation (Berachos 56a)—it can be explained.
