נתקבל מכתבו בו מודיע אודות הספיקות והקישויים שישנם בנוגע למשרת הרבנות, ולאחכ"ז נראה בעיני הצעת המשרה נכונה אלא שכיון שחושש להשפעה עליו מצד הסביבה, צריך להוסיף בשיעוריו בתורת הנגלה ובתורת החסידות המביאה לאהבת ה' וליראתו ולימוד העבודה בלב מתוך קבלת עול כדי שיוכל לעמוד בנסיון ובעיקר בנסיונות המדומות שהם רבים יותר מאשר אלו הנסיונות האמיתיים. והשי"ת יצליחו להפיץ בסביבתו אור התורה ויראת שמים שבד"מ ישפיע זה גם עליו.
לפלא שבמכתבו אינו מזכיר דבר ע"ד שיעוריו הקבועים בתורת הנגלה ובתורת החסידות, ובודאי ימלא זה בהזדמנות הבאה.

Your letter was received in which you inform me about the doubts and difficulties regarding the rabbinic position. Subsequently, it seems to me that the job offer is appropriate; however, since you are concerned about the influence of the environment on you, you need to increase your study in both Nigleh (revealed Torah) and Chassidus—which leads to love and awe of Hashem—and study avodah with heartfelt acceptance of the yoke. This will enable you to withstand trials, especially the imagined ones which are more numerous than real ones.
May Hashem grant you success in spreading in your surroundings the light of Torah and fear of Heaven; usually this also influences oneself.
It is surprising that in your letter you did not mention anything about your regular studies in Nigleh and Chassidus. Surely you will fulfill this in your next opportunity.

The Rebbe teaches that increasing Torah study—both revealed and Chassidus—strengthens one against negative influences and challenges. Spreading Torah and awe of Heaven benefits both one's environment and oneself.
