I was pleased to receive your letter from last Monday... May Hashem grant you success in your public Torah study, and through bringing the hearts of the Jewish people closer to their Father in Heaven, you will certainly draw additional blessing and success in your personal matters, both materially and spiritually.

It is already known my view, based on what is brought in many places in Chassidus about the great importance of actual deed—that one should strive as much as possible to know the commonly applicable laws. Therefore, someone who teaches publicly should dedicate at least some moments to learning these laws, most of which are found in Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim. In a lighthearted way, we can also apply here our Sages’ teaching on the verse 'Orach Chaim pen tafles...' (Orach Chaim lest you weigh...), meaning: Do not sit and weigh out My mitzvos of Torah, etc., contrary to the common notion that studying Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim is only for those on a lower spiritual level.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that public Torah study—especially focusing on practical halachah—draws down extra blessings both materially and spiritually. One should not underestimate the value of learning and teaching practical laws from Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim.
