אולי הכוונה שכן עושים בפועל, שמעשה דוקא רב, וע"פ מרז"ל (ב"ב קל, ב). ואפשר נשמט בהעתקת המכתב (אחר התיבות על ימין תחלה) התיבות ג"פ בסירוגין. ומנהג החסידים מוציא מהדעות שצ"ל לא בסירוגין (נקבצו דעות אלו בס' שערי תפלה לר"י רוקח ד"ד) או שצ"ל ד"פ (מנהג הגר"א והרה"צ ממונקאטש בעהמ"ס מנח"א וכו').
נדפסה בקובץ יגדיל תורה נ.י. חוב' נג סי' נב, מכתי"ק שעל גליון שאלתו של הרא"ח נאה, בתאריך יו"ד תמוז תש"י, ששאל על האמור באגרת כ"ק אדמו"ר מוהריי"צ נ"ע (אג"ק שלו ח"א אגרת ק), דז"ל שם: בדבר נטילה, כל הנטילות בימין תחילה, הן נטילת הכלי ביד ימין תחלה וכן השפיכה צ"ל על יד ימין תחילה... ובשביל שיקוימו שניהם (הקיחה והנטילה) בימין, נהגו כל החסידים ליקח הכלי בימין וליתנה ליד שמאל, ולשפוך על ימין תחלה. ובזה עוד כוונה כי כל השפעה בימין, ובפרט נט"י שהיא המשכת החכ' במדות, מים על הידים, ובחכ' אתברירו השער מזה לימין.
וע"ז כתב הרא"ח נאה: מש"כ נהגו כל החסידים ליקח הכלי בימין כו'. אני מעורר כי זה מפורש בשו"ע. והוא בב"י בשם הזהר. וצ"ע לשון נהגו.
Shalom u'Vrachah! [End of the year "Tash"] Perhaps the intention is that this is indeed what is done in practice, as action is most important, as our Sages say (Bava Basra 130b). And perhaps in copying the letter (after the words 'on the right hand first'), the words 'three times alternately' were omitted. The custom of the chassidim excludes those opinions that say it should not be done alternately (these views are collected in Sefer Shaarei Tefillah by R. Yitzchak Rokach, section 4), or that it should be done four times (the custom of the Gra and the righteous one from Munkatch, author of Minchas Elazar, etc.).
This was printed in Kovetz Yagdil Torah N.Y., issue 53, siman 52, from an autograph on the margin of a question by R. Chaim Naeh, dated 10 Tammuz 5710 (1950), who asked about what is stated in a letter from the Rebbe Rayatz (Igros Kodesh vol. 1, letter 100), which says: Regarding netilah (washing), all washings are to be done on the right hand first—both taking the vessel with the right hand first and pouring should be on the right hand first... And so that both actions (taking and pouring) are fulfilled with the right hand, all chassidim customarily take the vessel with their right hand and give it to their left hand, then pour on their right hand first. There is also another intention here: since all influence comes through the right side—and especially Netilas Yadayim which draws wisdom into attributes—water onto hands—and in wisdom are clarified gates from this to the right.
On this R. Chaim Naeh wrote: What you wrote—that all chassidim customarily take the vessel with their right hand etc.—I point out that this is explicit in Shulchan Aruch. It appears in Beis Yosef quoting Zohar. The wording 'customarily' needs clarification.
