Blessings and peace!
I acknowledge receipt of your letter, and now also your personal greeting with the enclosed item, for which a receipt is attached.
As I already had the opportunity to speak with your husband shiy" about when he was here: It is always—especially in our times—not advisable to follow children at every step and instruct them how to behave in every detail, even when one is certain they are one hundred percent correct. The same applies not only to parents and children but generally to anyone who wishes to have an influence on others.
Nevertheless, it goes without saying that I have taken into consideration the content of your letter and will see what can be done in this matter in a way that will bring benefit.
May the Alm-ghty bless you that together with your husband you should have much true Jewish nachas from the children. As is wished for [a] Jewish parents—you should raise them for Torah, marriage canopy, and good deeds. May the merit of your tzedakah stand by you for good tidings in all the above.
With blessing.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that effective influence—whether on children or others—requires restraint from constant direction, even when confident in one's correctness. He encourages trust and offers blessings for genuine Jewish nachas from one's children.
