Shalom u'Vrachah!
I feel guilty that I have not yet responded to your letter from some time ago. The reason is that I wanted to answer at length and was waiting for a free moment. Unfortunately, my responsibilities have only increased. Now, however, since Rabbi Leib Groner has informed me that he received a letter from your wife, I have torn myself away from various matters to at least briefly thank you for your good wishes.
May it be G‑d's will that what the Torah says be fulfilled for you and your wife: 'Va'avarchecha Mevarechecha' ("I will bless those who bless you"), that everyone who blesses a Jew is blessed by the Almighty Himself—whose blessing is known to be with His full, open, holy, and generous hand.
Of course, I continue to follow what is published by you in the Forverts. In addition to the content itself, it is a sign to me that your health is well and that you continue describing Jewish history—a past which is relatively close in time but unfortunately much further in substance, especially compared with America.
May it be G‑d's will that your writing contributes to not letting the inheritance be forgotten—the true inheritance which stretches like a golden thread through tens and tens of generations; an inheritance every Jew receives from his grandfathers and great-grandfathers back to our first ancestors: Avraham, Yitzchak, Yaakov; Sarah, Rivkah, Rachel, and Leah.
As emphasized in the term 'inheritance,' according to all laws—as long as one is a son or grandson—regardless of his own status or situation, level of intelligence or degree of piety—he inherits the property of his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather back to the beginning of generations. And the true inheritance is not material property—which Babylon and Rome and their heirs took—but true Jewishness which permeates a Jew's life from birth onward.
As discussed many times: The difference between the Jewish way of life and that of other nations is that their faith touches only certain times or events—be it Sunday or Friday—but does not relate to eating or drinking or weekdays. For Jews, however, Judaism is a way of life—a daily life without interruption. In jest: Life in a 'grade,' an uninterrupted path and continuity.
I was pleased to learn from your wife's letter that you are in contact with our friend President Shazar shlita. May there be good tidings regarding everyone in all details.
With respect and blessings for success. Greetings to Mrs. Grade—and again thanks for her greetings in her letter.
