Shalom u'Vrachah!
I hereby acknowledge receipt of your letter which will be read at the resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, nishmaso Eden. May it be G‑d's will that you receive good news in a visible and revealed way.
As we approach the days of Chanukah that are coming to us for good, may it be G‑d's will that each one of us among all Israel does what is incumbent upon him to spread "Ner Mitzvah v'Torah Or" (the candle of mitzvah and the light of Torah) in all three points of the mitzvah of Chanukah candles: "mi'shetishka ha'chamah" (from when the sun sets) — meaning not to be affected even though darkness covers the earth; "al petach beito mi'bachutz" (at the entrance to his house outside) — meaning to illuminate and draw close even those who are still outside; "mosif v'holech mosif v'or" (increasing and increasing in light).
With honor and blessing for good news in all mentioned above.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that Hanukkah is a time to spread light through mitzvot and Torah by not being discouraged by darkness, reaching out to those still distant, and always increasing in light. Each person should do their part to illuminate their surroundings.
