תהי' עם ה' אלקיך, יצאה מצוות הצדקה שנאמר עלי' ובחנוני נא בזאת וגו' (מלאכי ג, י. וראה ג"כ שו"ע יו"ד סי' רמ"ז בסופו). ולזאת שמחתי שההתנדבות הביאה תיכף בחינה טובה, ברכה הכי גדולה להורים לראות בנם הבכור שי' מתחיל בהסתדרות בחיי משפחה כראוי וכיאות.

In anticipation of the wedding celebration of your son, HaVavac"h Iy"a Nu"n Harav Avigdor sheyichyeh with B G shetichyeh at a good and auspicious time, may it be the will of Hashem that everything should be at a good and auspicious time and that they build an everlasting edifice on the foundations of Torah and mitzvah as they are illuminated by the light within Torah—this is the Torah of Chassidus.

In addition to the joy itself regarding the matter of the shidduch and the virtues you write about, I was happy to learn—and here is an opportunity to express my great pleasure—about your tangible donation in the amount of 5000a in connection with activities. Surely you know that although in general one should not test Hashem—and on the contrary: "Tamim tihyeh im Hashem Elokecha" (You shall be wholehearted with Hashem your G‑d)—regarding the mitzvah of tzedakah it is stated: "U'bechanuni na b'zot..." (Test Me now with this...) (Malachi 3:10; see also Gittin Choshen Mishpat Yoreh Deah siman 247 at its end). Therefore, I was glad that your donation immediately brought a positive result—the greatest blessing for parents to see their firstborn son beginning to establish his family life properly and fittingly.
As above, regarding a mitzvah it is not appropriate that one should say thank you—especially a mitzvah like tzedakah which is good for Heaven and good for people. But there is room to express how much pleasure you have caused me, as well as for the significant relief in Lubavitch's budgetary burden in its various activities through your aforementioned donation which came most timely.
I see from your letter and from your son's letter that you have set a date for the wedding. May it be His will that it take place at a good and auspicious time, as well as all preparations being done with joy and gladness of heart.

The Rebbe teaches that supporting Torah causes through tzedakah brings both spiritual merit and tangible blessings. Acts of generosity are deeply valued—not only by those who benefit but also as a source of personal nachas and Divine favor.
