לקראת חג המצות, זמן חרותנו, הבא עלינו ועל כל ישראל לטובה ולברכה, הנני בזה לאחל לכת"ר ולכל אשר לו חג הפסח כשר ושמח וחרות אמיתית, חרות מכל ענינים המבלבלים בגשמיות וברוחניות, כדי לעבוד את הוי' בשמחה ובטוב לבב,
ולהמשיך מחרות ושמחה זו בכל ימות השנה.

לספר הערכים
בחסידות, הנה אף שאין הזמן גרמא להאריך, על כל פנים אבוא בקיצור, והרי לדכוותי' גם אין צורך באריכות, והוא:
פשוט שלא היתה מטרת ספר זה להגיש תורת החסידות באופן פופולארי, כרגיל הסגנון בזה עתה, כי אם להקל על לימוד תורת החסידות בנקודה עקרית, על ידי ריכוז הענינים המפוזרים בכו"כ ספרים ומאמרים, ביחד. ועוד וגם זה עיקר, בהוספת הציונים ומראה מקומות, שבסגנון
דמבשרי אחזה
ראיתי עד כמה נוגע הענין כדי להבין ענין בחסידות על בוריו, עכ"פ במדה האפשרית תוך הזמן שמקדשים אותו ללימוד תורת החסידות.
גודל ההכרח בזה מובן ג"כ מריבוי הספרים מעין זה בתורת הנגלה, הן בנוגע לריכוז החומר ע"ד ספרי ערכים בתורת הנגלה על סדר הא"ב וכו' או ע"ס הענינים וכו', על אכו"כ בנוגע לסיכום הפסקי דינים בספרי הפוסקים, ואפילו בתורת הקבלה כמה ספרים שמטרתם כנ"ל, ודוקא בתורת החסידות לא נמצא כמוהו. ומתאים לשיטת חסידות חב"ד שאחת הנקודות העיקריות בזה להבין הענינים על בורים, ובסגנון הידוע שיהי' מובן גם בשכל נפה"ב, הנה לא ראיתי אף התחלה בזה, מלבד שער היחוד לאדמו"ר האמצעי שהוא ע"ס ההשתלשלות, אבל בקיצור נמרץ.
הרגשתי בהכרח האמור עשיריות בשנים, אלא שמפני כו"כ סיבות נתעכב הדבר, והתחלתי לפני עשיריות בשנים בהקדמת עבודה המוכרחת לעריכת ספר ערכים כזה על ידי עריכת מפתחות ענינים של ספרי היסוד בתורת החסידות.
ולדעתי וגם בזה מבשרי אחזה הצליח ספר הערכים בצורה שהופיע למלאות במדה חשובה וגדולה חסרון האמור. ואף שכמובן יש למלאות ולהשלים כמה ענינים המ[ב]וארים בו על פי המבואר בעוד ספרים ומאמרים וכו', הרי ידועה שיטתי על דרך מה
שכתבתי לכת"ר
בנוגע לאנציקלופדי' התלמודית, שמוכרח שיופיעו כל הערכים בהקדם הכי גדול, שהרי כל זמן שלא נשלם ערך האחרון באות תיו חסרה שלימות גם בערך הראשון, ועד"ז הוא ג"כ בנוגע לספר הערכים דידן, שמעורר אני שיופיע בהקדם ולא אחרי לימוד כל הספרים והמאמרים שבדפוס ושבקופיר, וק"ל.
מעין סיוע להנ"ל, וגם בזה ראיתי אות ורמז שמוכרח הדבר להו"ל ספר הערכים, היא ההו"ל דמאמרי אדמו"ר הצ"צ על סדר התורה ותנ"ך, שעכ"פ מרוכזים ענינים על סדר הפסוקים, שמקיל למצוא אותם, ודוקא עתה היתה היכולת להו"ל וגם בזה הרי הם

שאין להם סוף במה שכבר הופיע (כ"ו כרכים) נוסף על ההוספות הנלקטים עתה מעוד ביכלעך, ושכנראה גם בהם יש חומר לכו"כ כרכים. ומנחם אני את המתעסקים בספר הערכים שלמרות שמזרז אני אותם למהר בהעריכה ובמילא חסר במיצוי כל המקורות הידועים אפילו, שתיכף לגמר האות תי"ו (והלואי שיהי' במהרה בימינו ממש) יתחילו בעריכת הוספות ומהד"ת.
לא אכחד אשר כוונתי בהכתוב לעיל היא גם כן שאולי יועילו דברי להקדים הופעת כרך הי"ד של האנציקלופדי' תלמודית ולאחריו הט"ו וכו'. וכפי

As we approach the Festival of Matzos, the season of our freedom, which is coming upon us and all Israel for good and for blessing, I hereby wish you and all yours a kosher and joyous Pesach and true freedom—freedom from all matters that disturb both materially and spiritually—so that you may serve Hashem with joy and gladness of heart, and to draw from this freedom and joy throughout the entire year.

P.S. In response to what you wrote regarding Sefer HaArachim in Chassidus: Although now is not the time to elaborate, I will at least respond briefly—and for you there is no need for length—and it is as follows: It is clear that the purpose of this book was not to present Chassidus in a popular style as is common nowadays, but rather to make it easier to study Chassidus on its essential points by gathering topics scattered throughout many books and discourses together. Furthermore—and this is also essential—by adding references and sources. From my own experience I have seen how important this is for understanding a concept in Chassidus thoroughly, as much as possible within the time devoted to studying Chassidus.
The great necessity for this can also be understood from the abundance of similar books in Nigleh (the revealed part of Torah), whether regarding gathering material up to encyclopedic works arranged alphabetically or by topic, or regarding summaries of halachic rulings in the works of poskim; even in Kabbalah there are several books with such aims. Yet specifically in Chassidus nothing like this has been found. This fits with the approach of Chabad Chassidus that one of its main points is understanding concepts thoroughly, and in its known style so that it can be understood even by an average intellect. I have not seen even a beginning in this area except for Shaar HaYichud by the Mitteler Rebbe which deals with hishtalshelus (the chain-like order of creation), but very briefly.
I have felt this necessity for decades; however, due to various reasons it was delayed. Decades ago I began necessary preparatory work for compiling such a Sefer HaArachim by preparing indexes of topics from foundational works in Chassidus. In my opinion—and again from my own experience—Sefer HaArachim has succeeded in filling this important gap to a significant degree. Of course there remains much to complete regarding topics explained elsewhere; however, my view—as I wrote you regarding the Talmudic Encyclopedia—is that all entries must appear as soon as possible because until the last entry under 'Tav' is completed there remains an incompleteness even in the first entry. The same applies here: I urge that Sefer HaArachim appear quickly—not only after every book or discourse has been studied or published.
A kind of support for this—and here too I saw a sign—is the publication of Maamarei Admor HaTzTz on Torah and Tanach order; here too topics are gathered according to verses making them easier to find. Only now has it become possible to publish these (26 volumes) plus additional material being collected now from more booklets—which apparently could fill many more volumes.
I encourage those working on Sefer HaArachim: although I urge them to hurry with editing (and thus some sources may be missing), immediately after finishing 'Tav' (may it be soon), they should begin editing supplements and new editions.
I will not hide that my intention above is also perhaps my words will help hasten publication of volume five of the Talmudic Encyclopedia—and after it volume six etc.—as I discussed with Haraha"g etc. Hutner during his visit here who surely conveyed these matters.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that true freedom comes through serving Hashem with joy, especially during Pesach. He emphasizes how gathering dispersed teachings into organized works like Sefer HaArachim enables deeper understanding—a model needed particularly within Chassidus.
