זה עתה נתקבל ספרו "התקוה לשנת הת"ק" שנדפס בעתו.
ולכל לראש, לאחרי תודתי הלבבית בעד התשורה, יש לציין לשבחו של מר ופרי עטו – שנתפרסם ענין שכתב לפני עשרות שנים ואף על פי כן נקרא בטוב טעם ובהתענינות. ומובטחני שכן הוא גם בנוגע ענינים אחרים שכמותו.

Your book "HaTikvah" for the year Taf Kuf was just received, printed in its time. First of all, after my heartfelt thanks for the gift, it is fitting to praise you and your writing—that a matter you wrote about decades ago is still read with good taste and interest. I am confident this is true regarding your other works as well.
This is an opportunity to mention what is brought in the name of the Gaon Reb Shlomo Zalman of Lublin, author of Toras Chesed: when asked about the reading of "zecher Amalek," whether to pronounce it zeycher (with a tzeirei) or zecher (with a segol), after lengthy discussion he concluded: zecher (segol)—zeycher (tzeirei), abi gut opmeken (as long as you erase it well). Similarly regarding calculating the ketz (end time): whether this way or that way—may it be G‑d's will that the ketz come in actuality, with the true and complete redemption through Moshiach Tzidkeinu.
On this occasion I am pleased to express special thanks to you for your efforts regarding... With esteem and honor and blessings for an extremely successful Lag BaOmer, as per the Torah's instruction in this week's parsha—and up to the promise at its conclusion: "Va'eshbor motos olchem va'olech eschem komemiyus" (And I will break the bars of your yoke and lead you upright).
