Shalom u'Vrachah!
I acknowledge receipt of your letter... As we stand before the days of Purim, about which it is said: 'which will never pass from among the Jews and their memory will not cease from their descendants,' may it be G‑d's will that always, all days, so too shall we have light and joy and gladness and preciousness as our ancestors did in those days at this time—as our Sages expound: 'light' is Torah etc., and 'preciousness' is tefillin (and the entire Torah—all mitzvos—are compared to tefillin). And in its simple sense—as it says in Emachaz L: a verse never departs from its plain meaning—light and joy and gladness and preciousness both materially and spiritually together.
With blessing.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that the blessings of Purim—light, joy, gladness, and preciousness—should be experienced both physically and spiritually. He connects these qualities to Torah study and tefillin observance, wishing enduring happiness for every generation.
