עיקר, כן גם יום זכרון זה יעורר בלב כל אחד ואחד מאתנו, בתוככי כלל ישראל, הרצון והמרץ להמשיך בפעולות בעל ההילולא בחיזוק התורה והיהדות בחיי היום-יום, פעולות חדורות אהבת השם, אהבת התורה ואהבת ישראל

Surely you have heard that this past Yud Shevat marked twenty years since the passing of our master and teacher, the Rebbe, leader of Israel in our generation. The strong hope is that, as with all days of remembrance in Israel—whose purpose is to draw from their theme into every day of the year through practical action (for action is primary)—so too this day will awaken in each one of us, within all of Israel, the desire and energy to continue the activities of the one whose yahrzeit it is: strengthening Torah and Judaism in daily life—actions imbued with love of Hashem, love of Torah, and love of Israel, which are all one.
I was pleased to learn that you have received an honor connected with Jerusalem, the holy city—may it be rebuilt and established by our righteous Moshiach speedily in our days. Certainly for your honor there is no need to emphasize our Sages' saying that "perhaps there is something to this"—especially regarding Jerusalem where precision is required in its entirety. Our Sages explained (Tosafot s.v. har, Taanit 16a; based on Midrash Bereishit Rabbah ch. 56) that it is called so because Avraham called it "Yirah" (awe), and Shem son of Noach called it "Shalem" (complete), and the Alter Rebbe—the Baal HaTanya and Shulchan Aruch—explains that its name indicates complete awe.
And since Jerusalem—the holy city—is called "the city of a great King," it follows that its influence—as written: "and the word of Hashem from Jerusalem"—must be with complete awe of Hashem; so too with all activities connected to Jerusalem.
May it be G‑d's will that you carry out all this by fully utilizing your abilities and sphere of influence—increasing ever more—with joy and a good heart.
