I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the eighth of Elul and its enclosures. I hasten to reply so as not to delay a matter that should not be postponed. You noted (in the additions to Shulchan Aruch) that I cited a source for the Alter Rebbe in the Siddur regarding reciting 'Ba'al Peh' every day as stated in Tanya Rabbati. Similarly in Shaar HaKolel – however, this was not from me; rather, it was copied from elsewhere (as indicated there). What I have recorded on this for a long time (though I do not recall now the sequence of events and do not currently have the books at hand): This topic is discussed at length in Shu”t Imrei Yosher vol. II by Reb Meir Arik – and not like Rashi on Menachos 66a. Also see Levush Orach Chaim siman 551. Shu”t Maharsham Orach Chaim responsum 282 raises a difficulty on this from Kiddushin 29b. I have heard reports which arouse concern that our friend shlita has set out on a visit to certain countries of the descendants of Cham and similar places. Although at first glance this does not seem to be my concern etc., in my humble opinion it is not an issue at all, and may he fulfill—and it will be fulfilled for him—the verse Ashrei Yoshvei Veitecha (Happy are those who dwell in Your house) (meaning all members of his group). In such matters it is easier and more pleasant to nullify them when they are still at an early stage etc. If this opinion is accepted—certainly he will find the proper way and method to act accordingly and succeed with G‑d’s help.
