בנועם קבלתי מכתבם ובקשתם פ"נ, בצירוף התמונות, והשי"ת ימלא משאלות לבבם לטובה להצליח בכל מעשה ידיהם בגשמיות וברוחניות ולהיות חסידים יראי שמים ולמדנים.
ולמותר להדגיש כי אין הדבר תלוי אלא בהם, כי
אין
לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון, ואדרבה,
הבא
לטהר מסייעין אותו.
והרי
הימים האלה ימי סגולה הם, ימי
חודש
הרחמים והרצון, אשר ענינם מבואר במשל הידוע של כ"ק רבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשלחן ערוך (לקו"ת, פ' ראה, לב):
משל למלך שקודם בואו לעיר יוצאין אנשי העיר לקראתו ומקבלין פניו בשדה ואז רשאין כל מי שרוצה לצאת להקביל פניו והוא מקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות ומראה פנים שוחקות לכולם כו'.
וזהו ענין חודש אלול, שאז הוא בבחינת "מלך בשדה", זמן התגלות י"ג מדות הרחמים.
ויהי רצון אשר כל אחד מאתנו בתוככי כלל ישראל ינצל ימי סגולה אלה להתקרב לאבינו שבשמים באמת ובפנימיות, בהוספה בעניני תורה ומצות בהידור, והשם יתברך יקבל בסבר פנים יפות ושוחקות תפילות ובקשות כל

Shalom u'Vrachah!
With pleasure I received your letter and request, together with the photos. May Hashem fulfill your heart's desires for good, granting you success in all your endeavors both materially and spiritually, and may you become chassidim who are G‑d-fearing and learned. It is hardly necessary to emphasize that this depends only on you, for nothing stands in the way of willpower; on the contrary, one who comes to purify is assisted from Above.
These days are auspicious times—the month of mercy and favor—whose nature is explained in the well-known parable from our master Rabbeinu HaZaken, author of Tanya and Shulchan Aruch (Likkutei Torah, Parshas Re'eh, p. 32): A king, before entering a city, is met by its people who go out to greet him in the field; then anyone who wishes may approach him, and he receives everyone with a pleasant countenance and a smiling face. This is the idea of the month of Elul: it is when "the King is in the field," a time when the thirteen attributes of mercy are revealed.
May it be His will that each one of us within all Israel utilize these auspicious days to truly and inwardly draw closer to our Father in Heaven by increasing in Torah and mitzvos with extra care. May Hashem graciously accept with a pleasant and smiling countenance all our prayers and requests for good and blessing.
Blessings for success, good tidings, and for being inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that during Elul—the month when "the King is in the field"—every Jew can approach G‑d more easily. By increasing Torah study and mitzvah observance with sincerity during these special days, we merit Divine closeness and abundant blessings.
