Shavz Mrs. Devorah Leah may she live
Shalom u'Vrachah!
I was saddened to hear about your health situation, and I have strong hope that it is improving and that your efforts in the natural way—following the doctor's instructions—will be successful. May it be G‑d's will that the explicit verse spoken by Scripture be fulfilled: "And the L‑rd your G‑d will bless you in all that you do," with a speedy recovery.
Especially as we stand on Tu BiShvat, the New Year for Trees, when new strength is added to the plant world. And "man is like a tree of the field," and furthermore, all parts of inanimate, plant, animal, and human exist within a person—according to our Sages' style: everything in the world has its counterpart in man (who is called a small world). However, the speaking part of man—and even the living part—relates more to the soul and its matters; whereas the plant aspect pertains to the body—including its healing and proper health.
Nevertheless, even the body and its matters in every Jew are included in spiritual life. In the words of our great teacher Rambam—whose profession was healing both soul and body—that having a healthy and whole body is one of the ways of serving G‑d (see Hilchot Deot at the beginning of chapter 4).
Blessings for a speedy recovery.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that caring for one's physical health is part of serving G‑d. On Tu BiShvat—the New Year for Trees—we are reminded that just as trees renew their strength, so too can we renew our vitality by integrating both body and soul in divine service.
