לפלא קצת שמאז מכתבו מכמה חדשים קודם לכן לא קבלתי מכתב מכ', אף שתקותי חזקה שלא מדקדק עמי שמתעכב מכתבי מפני הטרדות, ולמרבה הצער לא כל הטרדות מסוג שמחה.
בהתאם לסגנון מכתבו, תקותי שהשתתף בכמה התועדויות חסידותיות באה"ק ת"ו ולכן הי' לי לפלא שלא נזכר שמו בין אלו שהשתתפו בחגיגת (זיכרון ל)י"ב תמוז בכפר חב"ד. ובודאי השתתף בחגיגה כזו במקום אחר באה"ק ת"ו.
ולמותר להדגיש לדכוותי' שענין הזכירה הוא ההתעוררות למעשים בפועל, ובנידון דידן - ברוח בעל השמחה והגאולה די"ב-י"ג תמוז, אשר מסר נפשו בעד החזקת והפצת התורה ומצוותי', מבלי להתחשב במניעות ועיכובים. ובימים אלו שבין המצרים בודאי שראוי והגון לעשות ולפעול בכיוון זה, שזכרון החורבן מזכיר ומעמידנו על הסיבה, וכנוסח התפלה ומפני חטאינו גלינו מארצנו כו' וכוונת הזכרון הוא בשביל התיקון, ואי אפשר לביטול כי אם על ידי ביטול הסיבה. ויהי רצון שבקרוב ממש נזכה לקץ גלותנו ולגאולה האמתית והשלימה על ידי משיח צדקנו, וימים אלו יהפכו לששון ולשמחה.

It is somewhat surprising that since your letter several months ago I have not received another from you, though I strongly hope you are not being strict with me and that my letter has been delayed due to preoccupations—and unfortunately not all preoccupations are of a joyful nature.
Based on the tone of your letter, I hope you participated in several Chassidic gatherings in Eretz HaKodesh, and therefore it was surprising to me that your name was not mentioned among those who attended the (memorial for) Yud-Beis Tammuz celebration in Kfar Chabad. Surely you participated in such a celebration elsewhere in Eretz HaKodesh.
It is unnecessary to emphasize to you that the point of remembrance is to inspire actual deeds—in this case, in the spirit of the one whose joy and redemption we celebrate on Yud-Beis–Yud-Gimmel Tammuz, who gave his life for strengthening and spreading Torah and its mitzvos without regard for obstacles or hindrances.
And in these days of Bein HaMetzarim (the Three Weeks), it is certainly fitting and proper to act in this direction: the memory of the destruction reminds us and makes us aware of its cause—as we say in prayer: "Umipnei chata'einu galinu mei'artzeinu" (Because of our sins we were exiled from our land)—and the purpose of remembering is for rectification. The annulment can only come through removing the cause.
May it be G‑d's will that very soon we merit the end of our exile and the true and complete redemption through Moshiach Tzidkeinu, and these days will be transformed into joy and gladness.
