במענה למכתבו מכ"ד סיון, בו מונה אחדים מהבעיות המעסיקים אותו.
ומתאים לגילו וע"פ פתגם חכמנו ז"ל, אם לא עכשיו אימתי, הרי עליו להשתדל ביותר שיוכל ללמוד בהתמדה ושקידה תורתנו הקדושה תורת חיים (שהתואר כולל גם הפירוש הוראה בחיים בעולמנו זה) ויהי' הלימוד מביא לידי מעשה כציווי חז"ל בהאמור, והובטחנו, יגעת ומצאת.
ולאחרי שירכוש ידיעות התורה במדה מסוימת ישוב לבעיות אודותם כותב ויתבונן בהם וימצא פתרונם.
והרי נתינת התורה לכל עמנו בני ישראל היתה גם כן דוקא ע"י הקדמת נעשה לנשמע.
התקוה, שיש לו מכירים ומה שנוגע עוד יותר ידידים חרדים לדבר ה' ותורתו, שמכמה טעמים טוב הדבר וגם מוכרח, והרי כו"כ נמצאים בתל אביב.
ומהנכון אשר יבדקו את התפילין שלו - באם לא נעשה כזה במשך שנים עשר חדש האחרונים - ובכל יום חול קודם הנחת התפילין להפריש פרוטות אחדות לצדקה.

In response to your letter from the 24th of Sivan, in which you enumerate some of the issues occupying you. Fitting for your age and as our Sages of blessed memory said: If not now, when?—you should strive as much as possible to study our holy Torah, the Torah of life (a title which also means guidance for life in our world), with diligence and persistence. Let your learning lead to action, as our Sages instructed in the aforementioned teaching, and we are assured: "You have toiled and found." After you acquire a certain measure of Torah knowledge, return to the issues you wrote about, reflect on them, and you will find their solutions. The giving of the Torah to all our people, Bnei Yisrael, was also specifically through first saying "We will do" before "We will hear."
I hope that you have acquaintances—and even more so, friends who are careful about the word of G‑d and His Torah—which is good for many reasons and even necessary; there are quite a few such people in Tel Aviv. It is appropriate that you check your tefillin—if this has not been done in the past twelve months—and every weekday before putting on tefillin set aside a few coins for charity.
