Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from 30/12 with the enclosure, in which you write about your son sheyichyeh and the thoughts he shared with you.
It is clear that this is the greatest misfortune, G‑d forbid, that can befall someone—that a Jew should consider, as you write, a non-Jewish woman. Everything possible must be done to prevent this tragedy, and first and foremost the responsibility lies with the parents. Especially since this is an eternal misfortune—not only in this world but also in the World to Come. If parents do everything to protect their children from harm in this world alone, how much more so must they strive to prevent a tragedy—the greatest one—in both worlds.
I do not wish to elaborate on such a deeply painful matter; with such thoughts one helps Hitler—may his name be erased—whose goal was that there should be as few Jews as possible. This is the path that leads to that outcome. One must hope that by acting with proper effort together with heartfelt prayer to Hashem Yisbarach from everyone truly interested in your son's wellbeing—first and foremost the parents and those closest—it will bring about protection and prevention from this greatest misfortune that he himself wants to bring upon himself, G‑d forbid.
May Hashem help you to report good news just as you shared this deeply distressing information.
The tefillin—yours and your son's sheyichyeh—as well as the mezuzos in your home should be checked so that all are kosher according to halachah.
With blessing for good news in all of the above,
In the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe shlita,
Secretary
