Shalom u'Vrachah!

I was pleased to receive your letter from the 10th of Shevat, the yahrzeit of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal nishmaso Eden, leader of Israel. Its content was good resolutions regarding increasing the study of our holy Torah, a Torah of life—the revealed Torah and Chassidus.

May it be G‑d's will that you fulfill these resolutions in practice. As stated in Pirkei Avos: one mitzvah brings another mitzvah; may you continue to add more and more. My strong hope is that this will also fulfill 'the jealousy among scribes increases wisdom.' I mean that this conduct will arouse a holy jealousy among your friends and acquaintances. As our Sages said, as it is written: 'Let not your heart envy sinners but be in awe of the L‑rd all day' (Mishlei 23:17), as explained at length in Orchos Tzaddikim and in Ohr HaTorah by the tzt"z (Vayetze p. 218b ff.). May they also increase in all of the above—each one becoming a chassid, G‑d-fearing person, and scholar.
