לאחרי שוב הפעם הפסק הכי ארוך במכתבים, נתקבל מכתבו מז' מ"ח, בו כותב אשר מאיזה סיבות חסר מספר תלמידים בבית הספר שלהם לערך המשרות שאישרו ממשרדים המתאימים, ושואל מה לעשות בזה.
והנה מובן ופשוט שצריך לעשות ככל האפשרי ועוד יותר מזה להרבות מספר התלמידים, ומ"ש שלא דבר קל הוא וגם שאין זה מכבוד המורה להתחנן לפני ההורים שבניהם ילמדו בביה"ס בו מורה.
הנה כל עניני תורה ומצות אינם קלים, ועל כל הענינים כבר הורם דוד המלך, אף שמלך שמחל על כבודו אין כבודו מחול, ונקלותי עוד מזאת וגו', ובפרט שאיני רואה בזה כל בזיון במקום שהמדובר אודות הצלת נפשות בני ישראל עי"ז שיוקלטו בבי"ס דחינוך כשר, וכשיתגייסו כל המורים-ות לתכלית זו; בטח יצליחו למלאות מספר התלמידים, ורק אם גם לאחרי זה והיפך השכל הבריא ושכל הישר ומסיבות אינן מובנות כלל לא יעלה בידם למלאות חלק מסוים ממספר התלמידים החסרים, רק אז יש לאחוז באופן השני שכותב, היינו להיות - ביה"ס - חובל בעצמו, שבדיני אדם הוא פטור.

After once again a very long pause in correspondence, your letter from the 7th of Iyar was received, in which you write that for certain reasons there are fewer students in your school than the number of positions approved by the relevant offices, and you ask what should be done about this.
It is clear and obvious that one must do everything possible—and even more—to increase the number of students. You write that this is not an easy matter and also that it is not fitting for a teacher to plead with parents for their children to attend the school where he teaches. However, all matters of Torah and mitzvos are not easy, and regarding all such matters King David has already been uplifted—even though a king who waives his honor does not have his honor waived—and 'V'nikloti od mizot' ("I will become even more undignified than this"). Especially since I do not see any disgrace here when it concerns saving the souls of Jewish children by enrolling them in a kosher educational institution. When all the teachers devote themselves to this goal, they will surely succeed in filling the number of students. Only if after all this—and contrary to common sense and reason, for reasons entirely unclear—they are still unable to fill a certain portion of the missing student count, only then should they resort to the second method you mention: namely, for the school to reduce itself, which according to human law is exempt.
