With joy I received your letter from the 23rd of Cheshvan, that your health is now better than it was before, and that the doctor gives good hope that it will continue to improve more and more.

I will, G‑d willing, fulfill your request and mention you for a speedy recovery when I am at the resting place of my father-in-law, the holy Admor zatzukal lehavdil ben chayim mezakeh zichro (may his memory be a blessing), and I hope you will be able to inform me in your next letter that you feel better and better.

In general in such matters one must follow the doctor’s instructions—such as avoiding stairs etc.—but at the same time be strong in trust in Hashem Yisbarach Who is the Healer of all flesh and does wonders; so too it will be in actuality in your case. The stronger one's trust is in this, the quicker comes improvement and healing.

I hope that from time to time our friends visit you—especially Moreinu HaRav Shneor Zalman Butman.
