במענה למכתבו מיום השלישי, בו כותב אודות ענין הלבושים.
ולפלא הספק שלו בזה, בה בשעה שמביא גם במכתבו מאמרי חז"ל וגם פסקי דינים המחייבים את הענין, וראה ג"כ שו"ת אדמו"ר הצמח צדק חלק יו"ד סי' צ"א (והשמטה להנ"ל בסוף שער המילואים שם), מיוסד על הכתוב (צפני' א, ח).
ולהערה שלו מהכתוב בלקו"ד בפירוש מאמר חז"ל שלא שינו את לבושם, דשייך זה לזקן ופיאות - פשוט שהנ"ל הוא נוסף על האמור, דאין מאמר זה יוצא מידי פשוטו, לבושים ממש, לבושים חיצונים.
התקוה חזקה שיש לו קביעות עתים בלימוד פנימיות התורה ולא עוד אלא שמוסיף בזה מזמן לזמן כמו שנצטוינו להעלות בקדש.

In response to your letter from Tuesday, in which you write about the matter of clothing. It is surprising that you have doubts about this, especially since you yourself cite in your letter sayings of our Sages and halachic rulings that obligate this matter. See also the responsa of Admor tzt"z, Yoreh Deah section 91 (and the supplement to the above at the end of Shaar HaMiluim there), based on the verse (Tzefaniah 1:8).
Regarding your comment on what is written in Likkutei Torah in explanation of our Sages' statement that they did not change their dress—that this refers to beard and payos—it is clear that this is in addition to what was said before; this statement does not depart from its simple meaning: actual garments, external clothing.
The hope is strong that you have fixed times for studying the inner dimension of Torah, and moreover, that you are increasing in this from time to time as we are commanded to ascend in holiness.
