Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 3rd of Nissan about your mood and confusing thoughts. It is appropriate that you look in the holy book Tanya by our master the Alter Rebbe (a halachic authority in the hidden aspects of Torah) and Shulchan Aruch (a halachic authority in the revealed aspects of Torah) regarding what he writes about rejecting sadness, etc. (see the index of topics in Tanya published by Kehot).
Furthermore—and this is essential—you should contemplate the concept of Divine Providence: how Hashem watches over each individual with specific attention, and that He is the essence of good, and it is the nature of good to do good. From this comes immediate results and conclusions as expressed in the pleasant words of David HaMelech: 'Hashem is my shepherd, I shall not lack... I will not fear.'
In general, it is not worthwhile to waste time contemplating one's own mood; it is better to study in a way that does not tire you out—in both Written Torah and Oral Torah—as mentioned above, so that you do not become exhausted until your mood improves completely.
You wrote about your advantage when praying alone; in such cases, many begin praying with the congregation even though their prayer then takes longer and they continue individually.
It is proper to have your tefillin checked as well as all the mezuzot in your home to ensure they are all kosher according to halachah. Also, every weekday before morning prayers, set aside a few coins for charity.
It is advisable to maintain all three daily study sessions: Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya.
Blessings for good news with joy and gladness of heart, and for a kosher and happy Pesach.
Regarding your letter: see also above Letter Z'taks, and what is noted there in the footnotes.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that studying Tanya, reflecting on Divine Providence, maintaining mitzvah observance like checking tefillin and mezuzot, giving charity daily, and regular Torah study are key tools for overcoming troubling thoughts and uplifting one's mood.
