Shalom u'Vrachah!
I acknowledge receipt of your letter delivered by Haraha"ch etc. Harash"ch sheyichyeh Kesselman.
Regarding your question about simple faith: It is explained in the holy books, especially in Chassidus works, that perfect faith exists within every single Jew—each one is called a child of Avraham, Yitzchak, and Yaakov and a daughter of Sarah, Rivkah, Rachel, and Leah. Sometimes the yetzer hara disturbs one's thoughts or misleads a person to think about other matters or even opposite matters. For this, as explained in Tanya Kadisha (Tanya ch. 29 and elsewhere as referenced in the index at the end of Tanya), it helps to get angry at the animal soul—saying: 'You are evil and wicked and disgusting and repulsive and loathsome,' etc.
There is another approach which is even better—and I believe I have already written this to you—complete distraction from such thoughts. When the yetzer comes with its enticements, answer that now is not the time for this because you need to learn Torah, fulfill mitzvos, pray, etc. Along with this: give a few coins to tzedakah every weekday morning before davening; keep up with the three known daily study portions—Chumash, Tehillim, and Tanya; and most importantly maintain diligence according to the yeshivah schedule. Even a little light pushes away much darkness.
Blessings for good news in all of the above.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that every Jew has innate simple faith. When distractions arise from the yetzer hara, one should either rebuke it as taught in Tanya or redirect attention entirely to Torah study and mitzvos—bolstered by daily tzedakah and consistent learning.
