נעם לי לקבל מכתב כת"ר מז"ך אלול, בו כותב אודות לימוד תורה ברבים, דברי אגדה ומוסר.
והרי ידועים דברי רבנו הזקן בעל התניא - פוסק בנסתר דתורה, והשולחן ערוך - פסוק בנגלה דתורה, באגה"ק שלו (תניא ח"[ד] סי' כ"ג) אשר האגדה שבס' ע"י רוב סודות התורה גנוזין בה ומכפרת עונותיו של אדם כמבואר בכהאריז"ל - דברים נפלאים ונצורים.
ויהי רצון שיוסיף בהאמור כהנה וכהנה ומתוך שמחה וטוב לבב, וכהוראת המורה הגדול רבנו הרמב"ם בספרו יד החזקה בסיום וחותם הלכות לולב.
בעת רצון יזכירוהו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע מתאים לתוכן כתבו, וזכות פעולתו האמורה, תעמוד לו לבשר טוב בכל האמור.

I was pleased to receive your letter from the 27th of Elul, in which you write about public Torah study, words of Aggadah and ethics. The words of our master the Alter Rebbe, author of Tanya—the halachic authority in the hidden dimension of Torah—and Shulchan Aruch—the halachic authority in the revealed dimension—are well known. In his Iggeres HaKodesh (Tanya part IV, epistle 23), he writes that Aggadah in the Talmud contains most of the secrets of Torah and atones for a person's sins as explained by the holy Arizal—these are wondrous and treasured matters.
May it be G‑d's will that you increase in all these activities even more and with joy and gladness of heart, following the instruction of the great teacher our master Rambam in his work Mishneh Torah at the conclusion and seal of Hilchos Lulav.
At an auspicious time you will be mentioned at the holy resting place (Ohel) of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal (may his merit protect us), in accordance with your letter's content. The merit of your aforementioned activities should stand by you for good tidings in all these matters.
