Shalom u'Vrachah!

After the longest pause, your letter from the 15th of Kislev was received, in which you write about your mood regarding entering an accelerated course for uncertified teachers, etc. And it is clear—based on what I have heard and know about you—that Divine Providence has endowed you with talent for education, proper absorption of knowledge and orderliness, and generally with those qualities required for success as a teacher, educator, and guide.

It is also understood that each of us among all humanity is not always in the same mood; therefore a person is in a state of ascent and descent. Who is greater than even true complete tzaddikim—as our Rebbe the Alter Rebbe describes this level—about whom it is explained that even they are subject to the verse 'Sheva Yipol Tzaddik Vakam' ("A righteous person falls seven times and rises"). However, for a tzaddik this fall is only relative to his previous level, etc.

From the above it is understood that it is normal not always to have the same degree of concentration or self-confidence. Especially when all this is compounded by the schemes of the yetzer (evil inclination), who wants to confuse a person from serving his Creator. One of the main elements in this service is peace of mind and absolute trust that 'Kol Ma D'avid Rachmana L'tav Avid' ("Everything that the Merciful One does is for good"), and certainly the talents given to a person were also given with the ability to utilize them. It is one of the tricks of the yetzer to tempt a person into thinking that a temporary and normal descent is not so—and he exaggerates it in one's eyes, etc.

The conclusion from all this: she should completely dismiss thoughts contrary to bitachon (trust)—the foundation of our faith and our Torah of life—and not be affected if sometimes she does not find within herself the strength for concentration as she did a day or two before. Furthermore—and this too is essential—to acquire a friend with whom she can speak openly; as it says: 'Da'agah B'lev Ish Yashchena' ("If there is worry in a person's heart, let him speak about it"), even though as mentioned this worry is imaginary and originates from temptation by the yetzer.

Certainly, certainly she will reach her goal—to succeed in her holy work as a teacher in Chabad's field—and G‑d made everything beautiful in its time. Surely she participated in activities on the holy day—the bright day of Yud-Tes Kislev—which is Rosh Hashanah for matters of Chassidus: its teachings and ways; I hope that overall her mood has improved as well, and may she share good news about this.

With blessings for good news in all mentioned above.

Summary

The Rebbe teaches that emotional ups and downs are normal—even for great tzaddikim—and encourages seeking support from friends while maintaining trust in G‑d. Success comes through perseverance and faith despite temporary doubts or challenges.
