Havavach iy"a nu"n etc. Yehuda Leib Kalpaholtz

Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to your letter from the 10th of Kislev, the day of redemption of our master and teacher the Mitteler Rebbe, zatzukal lehe nbgm zya. In it you write that it seemed to you at the beginning of the letter you received that the Divine Name was written differently than it was corrected later, which raises for you a question about whether this is permitted and a discussion about it.

As I recall, even initially the Name Havayah was not written there, so there was no issue here of instruction or precedent for elsewhere.

On this occasion—and especially since you wrote your letter on this auspicious day, and as is known from the words of the Arizal that these days (when they are) remembered (they are also) enacted—I will arouse you to the necessity to establish daily study in Chassidus, with an increase on Shabbos Kodesh. If in all places and times this was necessary, how much more so in our era and especially in Eretz HaKodesh Tuvah in particular. Nothing stands in the way of will.

Blessings for good news in all mentioned above.

Regarding what you wrote—whether there is a difference between writing by hand and printing with a typewriter (apparently your intent is that the latter is less severe). In my opinion—on the contrary—it is more severe since it is written in square script (even though without crowns), unlike handwriting. And it has already been ruled by most later authorities that there is holiness in printed sefarim. As noted in Sdei Chemed Pe'at HaSadeh Klalim letter dalet klal lamet-chet.

Yehuda Leib: Kalpaholtz, Jerusalem.

In square script: see above Vol. 12 Letter 444 and as referenced there in the notes. See below Z'riach.
