Shalom u'Vrachah!
In response to your letter from the 11th of Sivan — at an auspicious time you will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzal, for all that you need.
Regarding what you wrote that you cannot conduct yourself in the path of Chassidus — it is truly astonishing and perplexing how a Jewish person, especially a yeshiva student, can deny himself any path in serving Hashem. Especially since it is a clear ruling: "Anyone who says this teaching is pleasing... loses..." (that is, even if he says both teachings are valid but claims one is not suitable for him; see Eruvin 64a). It is unfortunate that he does not sense or feel that this style of speech comes from the yetzer (evil inclination), and there is no need to elaborate on something so obvious — especially considering your merit as someone descended from Sephardic Jews who have always engaged in learning the inner dimension of Torah. As our Sages say: "Throw a stick into the air; it lands on its root."
Similarly, what you wrote about not finding a friend, that your yetzer is not under your control, and that you have not found a path — all these are enticements of the yetzer. As explained at length in books of Mussar and Chassidus, how the old and foolish king (the yetzer) cunningly approaches each person and tries many different ways.
May it be G‑d's will that at least from now on you remember what was said: The truth is that you stand in a place of light — meaning within the four cubits of Torah — and you must fully utilize this beautiful portion by studying diligently both Nigleh (revealed) Torah and its inner dimension, which in our generation has been revealed through Chassidus; to fulfill mitzvos with excellence; and to serve Hashem without being confused by the enticements of the yetzer.
Blessings for good news in all mentioned above,
In the name of my revered Rebbe shlita,
Mazkir
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that doubts about following Chassidus or feeling isolated are tactics of the yetzer. By recognizing one's privileged position within Torah study and embracing both its revealed and inner aspects with diligence, one can overcome these challenges.
