במענה למכתבה מכ"ט תשרי, בו שואלת ע"ד חיוב הדלקת הנרות בעש"ק וערב יום טוב, קודם הנשואין.
בכלל מנהגים שונים בזה, יש קהלות נוהגים שהנשים מתחילות להדליק הנרות בעש"ק וערב יו"ט בגיל רך ביותר ועד לכמה שנים עוד קודם היות בת מצוה, ויש קהלות שהם נוהגות להתחיל ההדלקה רק לאחרי הנשואין.
מנהג בית הרב הוא שמתחילים להדליק בגיל רך ביותר כאמור,
עכ"פ בהנוגע אלי' כיון שנעשית כבר בת מצוה ויש היכולת בידה לקיים מצוה רבה האמורה הדלקת נרות בעש"ק וערב יו"ט ובאמירת ברכה נכון שתעשה כן בל"נ, והשכר הרי מבואר במדרשי רז"ל, שהדלקת הנר כפשוטו מוסיפה אור בנר ה' נשמת אדם, היא הנשמה הק' שבכל אחד ואחת מבני ישראל, ועל ידי זה נתוסף בכל עניני' במצות השם ומזה הברכה בהוספה גם בעניני' הגשמים.
תקותי שעוסקת בהפצת היהדות על ידי ארגון מסיבות שבת וכיו"ב וגם בין מסיבה למסיבה משתדלת להשפיע בסביבתה לקרב לבם לאבינו שבשמים על ידי קיום מצותיו של השי"ת והשי"ת יצליחה.

In response to your letter from the 29th of Tishrei, in which you ask about the obligation of lighting candles on Erev Shabbos and Erev Yom Tov before marriage. In general, there are different customs regarding this: some communities have women begin lighting Shabbos and Yom Tov candles at a very young age, even several years before becoming Bat Mitzvah; other communities have the custom to begin only after marriage.
The custom of Beis HaRav is to begin lighting at a very young age as mentioned. In any case regarding you—since you have already become Bat Mitzvah and have the ability to fulfill this great mitzvah of lighting candles on Erev Shabbos and Erev Yom Tov with a blessing—it is proper that you do so, G‑d willing. The reward is explained in the Midrashim of our Sages: that lighting the candle literally adds light to "Ner Hashem Nishmas Adam" (the candle of G‑d is the soul of man), which is the holy soul within every Jew. Through this, all matters are increased in fulfilling the mitzvos of Hashem, and from this comes additional blessing also in material matters.
I hope you are involved in spreading Judaism through organizing Shabbos gatherings and similar activities, and that even between gatherings you strive to influence your surroundings to draw hearts closer to our Father in Heaven by fulfilling His commandments. May Hashem grant you success.
