במענה למכתבו, בו שואל עצה וברכה, בהנוגע לעבודת ה' בכלל ולעניני לימוד התורה וקיום המצות.
והנה כבר הודיעו חז"ל, יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין, שמזה מובן וגם פשוט, שבידו הדבר תלוי, ובאם ירצה באמת יצליח, בעניני תפלה תורה ומצות, ומ"ש שבמקום פלוני יש לו חברים בלתי רצוים, הרי גם בזה בידו הדבר, ורואים במוחש, שכאשר מתחילים להתחבר עם חברים טובים, הרי בדרך ממילא מתרחקים אלו הבלתי רצוים, ואפילו מבלי השתדלות יתירה.
בטח בשיעורי לימודיו יש גם כן שיעור לימוד הלכות הצריכות בחיי היום יומים, וכמו הלכות קריאת שמע, תפילין, תפלה, ברכות הנהנין, שבת וכו' וחוזר עליהם מזמן לזמן.

The Rebbe responds to the individual’s letter in which he requests advice and a blessing regarding his service of Hashem in general, and specifically in the areas of Torah study and the observance of mitzvos.
The Rebbe explains that our sages have already provided the fundamental guidance: “If one says ‘I have exerted effort but did not find success,’ do not believe him.” This teaches that success is directly dependent on effort. Therefore, the Rebbe makes it clear that the matter is primarily in the person’s own hands. If one truly desires to succeed in Torah, prayer, and mitzvos, and applies genuine effort, he will indeed be successful. The request for blessing is secondary to the essential requirement of personal commitment and exertion.
The Rebbe then addresses the concern raised about undesirable friends. The individual expressed difficulty due to being surrounded by companions who are not a positive influence. The Rebbe explains that this too is within the person’s control. When one draws closer to good and proper friends, those who are not suitable will naturally distance themselves. There is no need for direct confrontation or effort to push them away; strengthening positive connections will automatically reduce negative influences.
The Rebbe continues by emphasizing the importance of studying practical halacha. In addition to general learning, one must regularly study the laws that are relevant to daily life. This includes areas such as the laws of reciting Shema, wearing tefillin, prayer, blessings, and Shabbos observance. These laws should not only be studied but also reviewed periodically to ensure clarity and proper practice. The Rebbe stresses that true service of Hashem is expressed through correct and consistent action in everyday life.
The letter concludes with a blessing for success in Torah study with yirat Shamayim and in the observance of mitzvos in a complete and proper manner.

הרבי משיב למכתב שבו מבוקשת עצה וברכה בעבודת ה׳, ובפרט בלימוד התורה וקיום המצוות.
הרבי מדגיש את דברי חז״ל: ״יגעת ולא מצאת אל תאמין״ — הצלחה תלויה במאמץ. לכן הדבר תלוי בעיקר באדם עצמו. אם אדם באמת רוצה ומשקיע בעבודתו בתורה, בתפילה ובמצוות, הוא יצליח בוודאי. הברכה חשובה, אך היסוד הוא ההשקעה האישית.
הרבי מתייחס גם לבעיה של חברים שאינם רצויים. הוא מסביר שגם זה תלוי באדם: כאשר מתקרבים לחברים טובים, החברים הבלתי רצויים מתרחקים מאליהם, בלי צורך להיאבק בהם ישירות.
עוד מדגיש הרבי את החשיבות של לימוד הלכות למעשה. יש ללמוד ולחזור על הלכות הנוגעות לחיי היום־יום, כגון קריאת שמע, תפילין, תפילה, ברכות ושבת, כדי לדעת כיצד לנהוג בפועל. עבודת ה׳ האמיתית מתבטאת במעשה נכון וקבוע.
