וכיון שזכה ללמוד בישיבת תומכי תמימים, אשר בה מתאחדים שני העצים אילנא דחיי ואילנא דטו"ר [ראה זח"ג קנז, א, ועיין, בביאור, באגרת הקדש לרבנו הזקן סי' כ"ו ובלקוטי תורה, שלח מב' ב' ואילך], הנה מובן ופשוט שעליו להוסיף בלימוד תורת החסידות בחיות עד שיחדירה בכל עניניו בלימוד הנגלה בקיום המצות ובעניני הרשות דבכל דרכיך דעהו, ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

In response to your letter from the 7th of the month of Teves. At an auspicious time, you and all those mentioned in your letter will be mentioned at the holy resting place of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe zatzukal-leha nabgam ziya, for all that you need in accordance with your letter's content.
Since you have merited to study at Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim, where the two trees are united—Ilana DeChayei and Ilana DeTov VeRa (see Zohar III 157a and further explanation in Igeres HaKodesh by our master the Alter Rebbe section 26 and in Likkutei Torah Shelach 42b and onward)—it is understood and obvious that you should increase your study of Chassidus with vitality until it permeates all your affairs: in the study of Nigleh, in fulfilling mitzvos, and even in mundane matters—"Bechol Derachecha Da'eihu" (in all your ways know Him). Nothing stands in the way of one's will.
