מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מיום הששי... ויהי רצון אשר תכה"י הנה יצליחו בורא עולם ומנהיגו לבשר אך טוב וכביטוי חז"ל טוב לשמים וטוב לבריות, וכשמתבוננים בהנעשה מסביב לנו, ובפרט בתקופתנו, תקופה אשר נתרועעו כל היסודות, רואים אשר זה בזה תלוי, וזה שאינו מודה בהחיוב להיות טוב לשמים, ז.א. בענינים שבין אדם למקום, חשוד הוא לזלזל גם בהטוב לבריות, בענינים שבין אדם לחבירו, וזלזול המביא גם למעשים בלתי רצוים ומזיקין ליחסי ההדדיים שבין אדם לחבירו.
בטח שמע עכ"פ ראשי פרקים אודות ענין יום הי"ט כסלו הממשמש ובא, וכיון שנזדמן מכתבו בסמיכות ליום זה, מוסגר פה חוברת מבארת פרשת החג שבטח תענין אותו.

I acknowledge receipt of your letter from Friday... May it be G‑d's will that you and yours will succeed, and may the Creator and Ruler of the world bring only good news, as our Sages say: "Good to Heaven and good to people." When we reflect on what is happening around us—especially in our times, an era when all foundations have been shaken—we see that these two are interconnected. One who does not admit the obligation to be good to Heaven (i.e., matters between man and G‑d) is suspected of also neglecting being good to people (matters between man and his fellow), which leads to undesirable actions that harm mutual relationships.
Surely you have at least heard some points about the upcoming Yud-Tes Kislev. Since your letter arrived close to this date, I am enclosing here a booklet explaining the festival's significance, which will surely interest you.
