במענה למכתבו מיום א', מה שאמרתי שמהנכון בשבילו להתעסק בכפר בחקלאות... נקודה אינה רצוי' בכל הענין, אשר כנראה במכתבו אין לו חשק כלל וכלל בכל ענין האמור בכל סניפיו, ועבודה ממושכת אי אפשר שתעשה באופן מסודר באם תהי' מבוססת רק על קבלת עול, וע"ד המבואר בכ"מ בדא"ח אשר כח הרצון והענג פועלים בכל הכחות בביסוסם והתפשטותם, ויתייעץ עוד הפעם עם ידידיו בכפר חב"ד, והשי"ת המשגיח על כאו"א בהשגחה פרטית, ינחהו באופן הטוב לפניו בגשמיות וברוחניות גם יחד.

In response to your letter from Sunday, regarding what I said about it being appropriate for you to engage in agriculture in the village... The point is that it is not desirable at all in this matter, as it appears from your letter that you have absolutely no interest whatsoever in any aspect of this matter. Prolonged work cannot be done properly if it is based only on accepting the yoke, as is explained in many places in Chassidus that the power of will and pleasure influences all faculties in their foundation and expansion.
Consult once again with your friends in Kfar Chabad, and may Hashem, Who watches over each individual with Divine Providence, guide you in a good way before Him both materially and spiritually together.
