במענה למכתבו מט' מ"ח, בו כותב אודות מצב הפרנסה הדחוק, ולכן בדעתו לנסוע לארצוה"ב, וכנראה כוונתו בתור שד"ר וכיו"ב.
והנה ראיתי בכמה מאלו שבאו לכאן של"ע ול"ע נכוו בכגון דא (האבען זיך אפגעבריט), כי נסעו לכאן מבלי לחקור ולדרוש התנאים אשר בזה, ובבואם פה ראו שכמה פרטים הם רק באופן שנפש היפה סובלתם, ולא רצו ואחדים לא יכלו אף שרצו להשפיל עצמם בכגון דא, ומסופקני אם הרויחו אפילו הוצאות הנסיעה.
מובן שאין דיעותיהם שוות ואין כל האפשריות שוות, ובפרט שאין מפרט במכתבו הסיכוים להרויח כאן והקשרים שיש לו, ולא באתי אלא לעוררו שצריך חקירה ודרישה מפורטות וישוב הדעת כ"פ קודם שעושים צעד כהנ"ל, ומכמה טעמים.
ובמ"ש שאינו יודע איך יצא מן המצוקה דעתה, הנה בכגון דא בכמה מאלו שכבר נסעו לכאן, באם היו משתדלים באותה התקיפות עד כדי למסירה ונתינה בהרחבת המצב על אתר, הרי נוסף שהיו מרויחים הוצאות הנסיעה, בטח היו מוצאים כמה ענינים של פרנסה וריוח באה"ק ת"ו ובכבוד יותר מאשר הענינים בהם עוסקים כאן.
בודאי מתכוננים בעוד מועד לימי כסלו הבע"ל בכלל, וביחוד להמועדים ויומא דפגרא אשר בו, ויהי רצון שיהי' בהצלחה בגשמיות וברוחניות.

In response to your letter from the 9th of MarCheshvan, in which you write about your difficult financial situation and therefore plan to travel to the United States—apparently as a shadar (emissary) or similar role. I have seen among several who came here that, unfortunately, they were burned by such ventures (they got themselves into trouble), because they traveled here without investigating and inquiring about the conditions involved. Upon arrival, they found that many details were only tolerable for those with great endurance; some did not want to—and some could not even if they wanted—to lower themselves to such things. I doubt whether they even earned enough to cover their travel expenses.
Of course, people’s opinions and opportunities differ, especially since you do not specify in your letter what prospects you have here or what connections you possess. My intention is only to alert you that detailed investigation and careful consideration are necessary before taking such a step, for several reasons.
Regarding your statement that you do not know how you will escape your current distress: In similar cases among those who already traveled here, had they exerted themselves with the same determination—up to self-sacrifice—to broaden their situation locally, not only would they have earned their travel expenses but surely would have found various means of livelihood and profit in Eretz HaKodesh (the Holy Land), and with more dignity than the occupations pursued here.
Certainly preparations are being made in advance for the upcoming days of Kislev in general, and especially for the festivals and special days within it. May it be G‑d’s will that it be with success both materially and spiritually.
