במענה על מכתבו בו כותב שעומד על הפרק ואינו יכול להחליט אם להמשיך בישיבה ולחיות חיי דוחק או וכו' ושואל עצתי בזה.
והנה פשוט הוא שצריך הוא להמשיך לימודו בישיבה, ומה שכבר החליט שפירוש הענין - חיי דוחק, אפילו את"ל שלא ישתכר משכורת גדולה וכיו"ב, פשוט בעיני כל בר שכל, שהאושר בחיים אינו תלוי במשכורת גדולה, אלא בבריאות סיפוק נפשי וכו' ורבו במאד בעלי המשכורת גדולה שבשמחה היו מחליפים אותה בקצת סיפוק נפשי יותר ובקצת תוכן יותר בחייהם הריקים, וכנראה במוחש, וביחוד אשר מעיקרי אמונתנו הוא שנותן התורה ומצוה המצוה, הוא הוא הבורא את העולם ומנהיגו בפועל גם עתה והוא הוא הזן ומפרנס לכל, והמסקנא מובנת.
ויהי רצון שלא יתפתה מדברי היצר וילך לבטח דרכו דרך המלך מלכו של עולם וילמוד בהתמדה ושקידה בתורת הנגלה ובתורת החסידות.

In response to your letter in which you write that you are at a crossroads and cannot decide whether to continue in yeshiva and live a life of hardship or otherwise, and you ask my advice on this.
It is clear that you must continue your studies in yeshiva. As for what you have already decided—that this means a life of hardship—even if it means not earning a large salary or similar, it is obvious to any sensible person that happiness in life does not depend on a large salary, but on health, inner satisfaction, etc. There are many people with high salaries who would gladly trade them for a bit more inner satisfaction and some more meaning in their empty lives, as is plainly evident. Especially since one of the foundations of our faith is that the Giver of the Torah and the One Who commands the mitzvah is also the Creator of the world and its actual Ruler even now; He is also the One Who sustains and provides for all, so the conclusion is clear.
May it be His will that you not be enticed by the words of the yetzer (evil inclination), but go confidently on your path—the path of the King, King of the world—and study diligently and persistently both Nigleh (revealed Torah) and Chassidus.

P.S. Surely you know about the three daily portions in Chitas (Chumash, Tehillim, Tanya) and will keep to them at least from now on.
Summary
