בתודה קבלתי מכתבו מכ"א סיון, ואחרי זה נתקבלו גם שני ספריו הלכות שמיטת קרקעות וס' קרבה שנת השבע.

אף שאין הזמן גרמא לעיין בהענינים אודותם כותב ככל הדרוש, ובפרט לתווך למש"כ בס' לאור ההלכה וש"נ - הנה לכאורה צ"ע מפני מה בהנוגע לאילנות לא נזכר גם ענין מכירת הקרקע לזמן*, כיון שמהמלאכות הנעשות באופן שמתאר כת"ר זקוקים לסניף ההיתר, ולדעת כמה גדולים המכירה לזמן מועלת בזה, ועי"ז יצילו גם אלו שלמרות ההוראות יעשו גם ממלאכות שלא התירו, ושבעוה"ר נמצאים הם בכ"מ, כי מלאכה גוררת מלאכה.
כתבתי לכפר חב"ד שיבואו בקישור עמו ובודאי יתן להם עזרתו ככל האפשרי. ות"ח מראש ע"ז.

*) מובן שאין כוונתי אלא שגם ימכרו לזמן (למרות החוששים ללא תחנם וכידוע דעת החולקים עליהם) אבל לא שיתירו עוד מלאכות - כיון שלא בא זה אלא לסניף.

With thanks I received your letter from the 21st of Sivan, and after that I also received your two books: Hilchos Shemitas Karkaos and Sefer Karvah Shnas HaSheva. Thank you very much for your detailed writing and your attention in sending me the above.
Although now is not an opportune time to study the matters about which you write as thoroughly as necessary—especially to mediate what is written in Sefer LeOr HaHalachah and others—nevertheless, it seems to require clarification why regarding trees there is no mention of the matter of selling the land for a term. Since the labors performed in the manner you describe require an additional basis for leniency, and according to several great authorities, selling for a term is effective in this regard. Through this, even those who—despite instructions—will perform labors that were not permitted (and unfortunately such people are found everywhere), will be saved, because one labor leads to another.
I have written to Kfar Chabad that they should connect with you, and certainly you will give them your assistance as much as possible. Thank you in advance for this.
