Shalom u'Vrachah!

In response to the letter with the enclosed doctor’s opinion regarding your son, sheyichyeh, which is hereby returned. The treatment that was suggested should be continued, and it may be worthwhile to suggest to the doctor that, based on what has been explained, the cause of his mood would be best addressed if he were given opportunities to help those weaker than himself—such as being their leader or guide in class, like at a Shabbat gathering or similar activities. This would greatly increase his self-confidence, etc.

Summary

The Rebbe writes that supporting a child’s emotional growth can be enhanced by giving him leadership roles or chances to help others, thereby strengthening his self-confidence alongside ongoing professional care.
