Shalom u'Vrachah!
I have heard from the circles of rabbis and yeshivah students about your success in your sacred work—healing people physically. Maintaining a healthy and whole body is one of the ways of serving Hashem, as our teacher the Rambam writes at the beginning of Hilchos Deos chapter 4: a healer of both soul and body. Even though I am sure you do not need encouragement or requests such as this—especially regarding a rabbi and halachic authority in Israel from the old generation who has come to settle in our holy land (may it be rebuilt and established by our righteous Moshiach soon)—still, as our sages say: "We only urge those who are already diligent," I write these lines because the person in question is known to me as a chassidic individual with good character traits who turns to you about his health matters, which he will explain himself in detail.
May it be G‑d’s will that your efforts succeed in doing all that depends on you for the speedy recovery of the rabbi and for a complete recovery.
I am certain that you also follow the practice of many G‑d-fearing doctors: when approached for advice about physical health, they use this opportunity to also inspire healing of the soul. Everyone—especially in our orphaned generation—needs this inspiration, as it is said: "There is no righteous person on earth who does good and does not sin." Especially since we see clearly that improving spiritual health also brings improvement in physical health in a literal sense. As the verse commands: "Tamim tiheyeh im Hashem Elokecha" (You shall be wholehearted with Hashem your G‑d) with all 248 limbs and 365 sinews of the body and likewise of the soul—which correspond to the 248 positive commandments and 365 prohibitions—as explained by our master, the Baal HaTanya and Shulchan Aruch (Likkutei Torah Parshas Nitzavim p.45a).
With honor and blessings for success in healing bodies and souls.
Certainly what is printed in Otzar HaPoskim vol. 1 (2nd edition p.164 col. b) regarding your performing prostate surgery without severing the duct—not even after surgery—is true, and you still practice this way now. Therefore, you should certainly publicize this in all medical journals since it concerns many people. For example, doctors here say (and have influenced some rabbis) that severing is necessary.
Summary
The Rebbe teaches that a doctor’s role extends beyond physical healing; every opportunity should be used to inspire spiritual growth as well. True healing involves both body and soul, benefiting individuals and uplifting entire communities through shared knowledge.
