Shalom u'Vrachah!

After the longest pause, I was pleased to receive your letter in which you write about... and the success that Divine Providence has granted you with Mr. Y.D. Surely this will add even more energy to your aforementioned efforts. In such matters—the greatness of your merit cannot be adequately expressed or measured.

I am interested to know if Mr. Y.D. showed you my recent letters to him, his character traits, and the environment in which he is situated, etc.

Among all these matters, Mr. Y.D. wrote to me that relying on my suggestion he began speaking with those he influences also about practical mitzvah observance. From his writing style it seems his heart still hesitates whether his listeners are already receptive to such words, and he also fears they might distance themselves because of this, etc., and perhaps he has other concerns as well.

Therefore, this is the opportunity for you to use a close occasion to steer a conversation with him on this subject—without it being apparent that the encouragement comes from me—and to encourage and strengthen him yourself regarding this matter; here too the merit of the many will assist you.

I was pleased to read at the end of your letter about the improvement seen in your livelihood, and I strongly hope that this is only a beginning and that your situation will improve even more—enabling you to dedicate more and more of your time and energy to spreading the wellsprings outward.

Enclosed is my letter for Pesach to Mr. Avigdor HaMeiri; although due to circumstances its sending was delayed—in truth its time is all year round, especially according to the saying of my father-in-law the Rebbe (see Sefer HaSichos 5703 p.75 and Likkutei Sichos vol.5 p.174), that Chassidim do not say "Chasal Siddur Pesach." The Rebbe—the Alter Rebbe—did not include in the Siddur after the Haggadah the words "Chasal Siddur Pesach," because among Chabad Chassidim Pesach does not end; rather it continues constantly.

Certainly if necessary you will add your own explanation as needed.

May it be G‑d's will that you succeed in kindling (fan into flame) the Divine spark within him until it becomes a flame rising on its own—as our Sages teach, this is the goal of "Beha'aloscha es haNeiros" (when you kindle the lamps).
