...It is understood and also clearly seen that Nachshon's conduct is not only a lesson for the seventh day of Pesach and the splitting of the sea in its literal sense, but for every beginning of a G‑dly matter in a new place. This is especially so when it comes to spreading the wellsprings and in the generation of Ikvesa d'Meshicha (the footsteps of Mashiach), and in Eretz HaKodesh (the Holy Land), about which it is said: "The eyes of Hashem your G‑d are upon it from the beginning of the year to year's end." And in such a place where, unfortunately, the forces of unholiness have particular strength—even being known abroad as 'the Red City'—may it be G‑d's will that very soon there will be fulfilled here what our Sages said (Shabbos 156a): "He who is under Mars... Rav Ashi concludes—he will be a mohel, bringing the children of Israel into the covenant of Avraham Avinu."

Nachshon's boldness teaches us to initiate G‑dly projects even in spiritually challenging places. The Rebbe encourages spreading Chassidus everywhere—including Haifa—and prays for visible results in sanctifying these environments.
