I acknowledge receipt of your letter from the 12th of Teves, in which you write about the farbrengen on the bright day of Yud-Tes Kislev, our redemption and the liberation of our souls, even though, as you put it, it was very limited in part due to the situation, etc.

I have already written to Anash in Eretz HaKodesh that it is surprising they do not see the contradiction; on the contrary, the situation demands an increase in activities related to spreading the wellsprings—even farbrengens are part of this plan. It is well known that when there is an increase in opposition (G‑d forbid), this should arouse an even greater increase in strength on the side of holiness—this is clearly observable. We see this even in secular governments: in such situations they recruit additional people, even from ranks previously involved in entirely different matters; nevertheless, because of the urgency of the time, "the weak will say: I am strong," and the lesson is clear. It is unfortunate that even for such simple matters one must arouse people from across the sea.

May it be G‑d's will that at least from now on—and with peace and joy and with kindness and mercy—they will add strength to spreading the wellsprings in all their details. This follows the directive from Chanukah: we always increase day by day with each candle and light that comes from pure oil after sunset and at one's doorway facing outward.
